Peacebuilding & Dialogue
Conflict prevention, mediation, and dialogue initiatives that help communities move from conflict toward lasting stability — filterable by region and type below.
Community Dialogue Convenings
Facilitated dialogue sessions bringing together community leaders across dividing lines to build trust and reduce tension before it escalates.
Early-Warning Monitoring Network
A planned network of local monitors to flag rising tensions early, giving mediators and communities time to respond before conflict escalates.
A Framework for Sustained Mediation Support
A planned policy position arguing that international mediation support needs multi-year funding commitments, not one-off interventions.
Youth Peacebuilding Training
A planned training program equipping young community members with dialogue and mediation skills to sustain peace efforts long-term.
Does short-term mediation actually build lasting peace?
International peace funding often favors short, visible interventions over the slower work of sustained mediation and trust-building. GAPDS's position is that durable peace requires the latter — even when it's less visible.
What we're seeing
Community dialogue efforts that continue past an initial funding cycle show markedly more durable results than one-off interventions — a pattern we're tracking as our initiatives mature.
What we're asking
That donors and policymakers commit to multi-year mediation support rather than single-cycle grants, and measure success over years, not months.
